Episode 22 of Your Lie In April, titled “Spring Wind,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for paid subscribers. Free subscribers can watch the same episode seven days from now on March 26th. This is the final episode of the series, which brings the ending to a saddening close.
It is a painful journey for Kosei because he wanted to admit his feelings for Kaori, but may have come too late. I find it cruel that everybody is pushing Kosei to take up the piano again when Kaori, who inspired him, is about to die soon. Tsubaki and everybody else do have their best intentions for Kosei, however, I find that they are incredibly ignorant to his pain.
I am surprised that Kosei is still competing in the Eastern Japan Piano Competition, despite the grief that he is going through with Kaori’s health.
The first half of the episode had an enchanting feel as if Kaori was playing with Kosei in spirit.
When I think about it, the two of them never really got to play together on stage. They were supposed to, but Kaori’s health had started to fail. Kaori eventually succumbs to her illness the moment that Kosei finishes playing his musical note.
I was surprised that Kaori originally was trained in the piano, but chose to play the violin instead after seeing Kosei perform when they were younger.
It was saddening when Kaori revealed that she had feelings for Kosei the whole time, but was unable to find the courage to express them. This was when Kaori’s health had started failing, which required her to be in the hospital more often.
The letter ultimately reveals the meaning behind the title.
This episode was straightforward, which isn’t bad at all. For the final episode, I felt that it was best to keep it simple. Watching the second half of this episode almost made me want to break into tears because it was saddening.
It seems that Kosei found the strength the move on and commit to the piano.
