Pop recording artist Willa Ford just released her new studio offering “amanda,” which is her first new music in 25 years (the follow-up to her breakthrough album “Willa Was Here”).
In the early ‘00s, Ford burst onto the pop music scene with her global smash hit “I Wanna Be Bad.” Her career spans many disciplines such as music, film, television, producing, modeling, and her own interior design company.
The album opens with the scorching lead single “Burn Burn,” which instantly lures fans in thanks to its lush melodies and her crisp, breathy vocals.
It is followed by the vivacious “Flex” and the hypnotic “Disassociate,” where she is able to her showcase her wide range as both a vocalist and storyteller.
It immediately breaks into the upbeat and irresistible “Money Honey,” as well as the nonchalant and unapologetic “Hammer,” which was a neat groove to it.
“Carousel” is one of the project’s most ambitious tracks, which features orchestral strings and shifting tempos, as it is a metaphor reflecting on the ups and downs in life.
Equally noteworthy is the atmospheric “Safe With Me” and the infectious “Love4Life,” which highlights her crystalline voice, which is pure as the driven snow.
After the melancholically beautiful “How Do You Like Me Now” (on a somber topic), she changes the pace with the lighthearted “1×1” and it closes with the pensive piano-laden ballad “Tombstone.”
The Verdict
Overall, Willa Ford scores more than a comeback with her latest musical effort “amanda,” which displays her growth and maturity as a singer, songwriter, and producer.
This sophomore collection is an ode of reinvention, an anthem of survival, as well as artistic and creative freedom.
She is able to take her audience on a journey through her new music, which will certainly transport them to different realms.

Ford is not afraid to be raw and vulnerable, and her vulnerability is the listener’s reward. Not only has she returned to the contemporary pop music landscape, but she has arrived in a refreshing and organic manner.
It has a retro late ’90s vibe to it, reminiscent of Kylie Minogue’s “Fever” album and that ought to be taken as a compliment.
Ford delivers Grammy-caliber work on “amanda,” so hopefully, this is a harbinger of more high-quality music to come from her in the future.
Each song has its own identity and there is a tune for every mood, which will make it hard for listeners to select a personal favorite recording.

Grab a bottle of wine (if over the age of 21) or a Charcuterie board, and let Willa Ford lure you in.
This highly eclectic record is worth checking out (from start to finish), and it garners an A rating. Bravo.
