“When it Rains…” is an intense episode in the western series “Ride.” It premiered on Sunday, April 23 on the Hallmark Channel.

Paolo Barzman directed the series from a script by Jen Rivas-DeLoose.

In this episode, dark skies are headed for the McMurrays, in more ways than one. The cast includes Nancy Travis, Tiera Skovbye, Beau Mirchoff, Sara Garcia, Jake Foy, and Tyler Jacob Moore. James Tupper also makes a neat cameo.

Missy (Tiera Skovbye) brings Cash (Beau Mirchoff) as her plus-one to the Frontier BBQ, but he feels out of place when his biggest competition, Hudson Cooper (Orin McCusker), shows up too.

As she coaches Cash on making a good impression, Missy is haunted by memories
of Austin (Marcus Rosner) and is caught off guard by a strangely familiar woman
(Holly Deveaux).

At the ranch, Hank (Greg Lawson) surprises Isabel (Nancy Travis) with some exciting news, but she doesn’t take it as well as he hopes.

When the McMurrays get word that a big rainstorm has shifted and is expected to hit the ranch by nightfall, everyone works together to save all of the hay bales but have no hope of succeeding with just one working tractor.

Valeria (Sara Garcia) must put aside her differences with Tuff (Jake Foy) to try and revive one of Dusty’s broken, old rigs. The task seems impossible, and so the pair considers an offer of help from an unlikely source.

When Missy and Cash return, tensions from the day’s events create a perfect
storm. Cash and Gus have it out in an intense scene, and without giving too much away, the episode ends with Missy making a bold confrontation that nobody saw coming, one that really tugs at the heartstrings. There is a lot of symbolism in this episode, if one pays close attention.
