Review: We can’t get enough ‘Jason Bourne’ — Trailer

In the summer of 2002 movie goers and critics alike were given a one-two punch when a Matt Damon took on the role of amnesiac super spy Jason Bourne. Riding high in Hollywood with Oscar winning films such as Good Will Hunting and Saving Private Ryan, who would have thought Damon would be etched into the pantheon of iconic secret agents the likes of James Bond and Jack Ryan? Reprising the role which spawned three sequels, Jason Bourne is back for another round.

Simply titled Jason Bourne, this action spy thriller brings the titular character out of hiding to delve deeper into the mythos which is his sorted past. Very little is known about the actual plot of the film, but if the earlier flicks are any indication, we are in for a good time at the movies. Premiering during Super Bowl 50, the trailer teases fans with a smorgasbord of stars, fights and big action. Generally deeper than the spectacles displayed on screen, Jason Bourne will assuredly bring more of the intricate espionage twists and turns made famous by the previous exploits of Bourne’s past films.

Co-written by Damon, director Paul Greengrass and previous Bourne screenwriter Christopher Rouse, the bar is set high in the story department. Co-starring series regular Julia Styles, the film also brings in heavy hitters such as Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Ex Machina beauty Alicia Vikander to round out the cast.

With a strong foundation made so by it’s well-conceived pedigree of films throughout the series, save for The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, considered by some to be the weak link of the bunch, Jason Bourne seems have all the earmarks of what has made this character so entertaining. So, if you missed it on Super Bowl Sunday, be your own critic, strap in and watch the first trailer for Jason Bourne. Enjoy.
