“Warming Up To You,” starring Christopher Russell and Cindy Busby, is a sweet new film on the Hallmark Channel.

Kate (Cindy Busby) is a fitness instructor who leaves Los Angeles to take a job at her best friend’s wellness retreat. To her surprise, A-list actor Rick (Christopher Russell) is assigned by the studio to come and train with her to get ready for his new feature film. It is evident that Busby and Russell tend to star in many films that take place outdoors.

Rick’s marshmallow smores will soon be replaced with cauliflower, and she won’t allow him to sneak in any pizza slices in his diet. Kate will also keep a tracker of Rick’s athletic progress each day (with a thumbs up and a thumbs down rating scale).

Not only does the duo make a breakthrough athletically, but they equally breakthrough some personal walls and find an unexpected friendship that is put at risk when Rick’s co-star, Liza (Caitlin Stryker in “A Million Little Things”), is also sent to train with Kate. How will this love triangle work out? Tune in tonight to find out (without any more spoilers).

Delores Drake is sensational in the role of Minnie, an older lady that also trains with Kate and Rick, and she is able to provide some witty moments of comic relief; moreover, the music in this film is resonant and catchy.

The Verdict

Overall, “Warming Up to You” was eloquently directed by Christie Will and the screenplay by W. Stewart is heartwarming and delightful. The acting performances by Christopher Russell and Cindy Busby are charming, and the rest of the cast is memorable. “Warming Up to You” earns two giant thumbs up.
