Country singer-songwriter Walker Hayes released his latest studio offering “17 Problems” on August 22nd via RCA Records.
His collaborators on this project include Grammy-winning producers and songwriters Warren “Oak” Felder (Sabrina Carpenter and Lizzo) and Shane McAnally, alongside Grammy-nominated Bart Millard (MercyMe).
It opens with the nonchalant “Neon Lights,” which instantly lures listeners in this collection, and it is followed by the moving ballad “Pocket Knife” and the mid-tempo and catchy “17 Year Old Problems.”
Hayes is able to showcase his witty and playful side on the hilarious tunes “Next Wife” and “Mayonnaise,” both of which are a real treat.
Equally infectious is “One, Two” and the lovey dovey “Fine As You.” Hayes tugs at the heartstrings on “Song for My Son,” his exquisite collaboration with country superstar Kane Brown, which will certainly evoke a wide spectrum of raw emotions.
“Bible Sales Are Up” is an inspirational tune on faith that is timely and relevant, which is filled with hope and positivity. The same holds for the poignant and soothing ballad “I Still Do.”
After the nostalgic “Jesus, My Dad and Johnny Cash,” where Hayes tips his hat to the late “Man in Black,” it closes with “Adderall,” his gorgeous duet with Colbie Caillat (where she displays her crystalline vocals), and on a fitting note with the smooth “Wednesday.”
Ahead of his forthcoming “Walker Hayes: Unplugged Tour,” which will kick off in October, Hayes will make his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 29th, where he will bring his distinct sound to the hallowed stage.

The Verdict
Overall, Walker Hayes delights on his newest musical effort “17 Problems,” which is reflective, sincere, and organic. It is evident that Hayes is like fine wine, where he only gets better with age and experience.
Each song on here has its own identity, and it is perhaps his most cohesive and greatest album that he has released in his respected music career.
“17 Problems” is Grammy-worthy, and it garners an A rating. Hayes deserves to be commended for a job well done. Bravo.
