The EP opens with the up-tempo “Here’s to You,” which features a killer electric guitar solo. The listener can recall Jason Aldean in this opening track. Williams really tugs at the heart on the follow-up acoustic ballad “I’d Give a Lifetime.”
The title track “Back to Me” is an autobiographical, inspirational ballad, that was made to be played on the radio airwaves. He shows his country-rock side on the spitfire “Lookin’ so Good.” The lyrics in the acoustic “Six Feet Under” are authentic and powerful, and the song ought to be enjoyed for its beauty and simplicity. His EP closes with “Country Bar Song,” which has a traditional country vibe to it.

The Verdict
Overall, Matt Williams has released a well-crafted and remarkable country EP with Back to Me. Williams is not afraid to be raw and vulnerable, and he allows the music to speak for itself. Most impressive was the fact that he did this entire studio effort on his own, independently, which deserves an additional round of applause. His music is recommended for fans of Brantley Gilbert, Jason Aldean and Gary Allan. This EP garners five out of five stars.
