On October 29, 2021, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Tori Amos released her latest studio offering “Ocean to Ocean” via Decca Records, which is utterly fantastic. Digital Journal has the scoop.

It opens with “Addition of Light Divided,” which has a stirring vibe to it, that instantly lures listeners in this new well-crafted collection. It is followed by the atmospheric “Speaking with Trees,” where her vocals are simply too good to be mortal, and “Devil’s Bane,” which is emotional and coupled with a retro 90s vibe to it.

Amos slows down the tempo on the expressive “Swim to New York State,” and she picks up the pace with the upbeat and nonchalant “Spies.”

The title track ballad “Ocean to Ocean” is sheer bliss, featuring her crisp, crystalline voice. The piano-laden “Flowers Burn to Gold” is vivid, haunting, and poetic, while “Metal Water Wood” is gloriously entertaining. Amos maintains great control over her dynamic voice and range.

After the hypnotic “29 Years,” it closes with the resonant “How Glass is Made” and on a fitting note with the harking “Birthday Baby,” where she leaves her listeners wanting to hear more.

The Verdict

Overall, Tori Amos delivers on her latest studio album “Ocean to Ocean.” Her vocals are heavenly and divine, and her storytelling ability is as compelling as ever. As an artist, she is not afraid to be raw, sincere, and vulnerable. It is evident that Tori Amos is like fine wine, where she only gets better with age and experience.

“Ocean to Ocean” is solid from start to finish, and every song has its own identity. It is warm, honest, and extremely personal. Her refreshing album “Ocean to Ocean” garners an A rating.
