Review: Thomas Rhett back with best album to date with ‘Life Changes’ (Includes first-hand account)

Rhett’s new album opens with “Craving You,” his smash single with country songstress Maren Morris, and equally gorgeous is his latest radio single “Unforgettable,” where his vocals are reminiscent of Brantley Gilbert. He also tugs at the heart on the nostalgic “Sixteen.” “Drink A Little Beer” is an uplifting party tune, where he collaborates with his father, Rhett Akins.

“Marry Me” is a piano-driven ballad, with a neat wedding ballad, coupled by his velvet voice. “Leave Right Now” is mid-tempo and addicting, and “Smooth Like The Summer” has a carefree vibe to it. “Life Changes” is mid-tempo and sassy, where the listener can recall Andy Grammer.

“Sweetheart” is another sweet love song, while “Kiss Me Like A Stranger” shows his sultry and romantic side. After the up-tempo and fun “Renegades,” it closes with “Gateway Love” and the haunting ballad “Grave.”

The Verdict

Overall, Thomas Rhett’s new studio album Life Changes is superb from start to finish. It is highly recommended for fans of modern country music, especially those that were fans of his song “Die a Happy Man.” The songs on here are in that poignant musical direction, and he delivers in all of them. This CD earns five out of five stars; moreover, it is proof that his 2017 Academy of Country Music (ACM) win for “Male Vocalist of the Year” was based on merit and talent.
