The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band The Zombies just released “Odessey and Oracle (Mono Remastered)” on September 26th, 2025.

The Zombies’ seminal self-produced album “Odessey and Oracle” is now available worldwide. It has been  remastered in mono from the original tapes, as the group originally intended it to be heard.

It opens with the Rod Argent-penned “Care of Cell 44” and it is followed by the stirring “A Rose For Emily” and the heartfelt “Maybe After He’s Gone,” which is filled with raw emotions featuring the band’s velvet harmonies.

After taking their listeners on a trip to “Beechwood Park,” where the lyrics have vivid imagery, they slow down the tempo with the harking “Brief Candles” and equally expressive and timeless is “Hung Up on a Dream.”

“Changes” is melodically and vocally stunning; a true psychedelic rock standard while “I Want Her, She Wants Me” is uplifting and fun.

After the eerie “Butcher’s Tale (Western Front 1914),” it closes with the enthralling “Friends of Mine” and their signature song “Time of the Season,” which is sheer bliss.

The Verdict

Overall, The Zombies delight with “Odessey and Oracle (Mono Remastered),” where they are able to take their fans and listeners on a musical journey all while simultaneously introducing this classic music to a younger generation of fans and listeners.

Each song on this musical effort has its own identity, and it sounds commercial and fresh.

It bears to mention that the cover art by Terry Quirk has been nicely restored to its original colors from 1968!

The Zombies will go down in music history as one of the greatest bands rock has ever known, especially since they are true pioneers in the genre.

It is evident that these songs will never go out of style, and that the music of The Zombies is more timely and relevant now than when they first released this album in April of 1968. “Odessey and Oracle (Mono Remastered)” garners an A rating.
