Review: ‘The Rolling Girls’ EP 10 takes a freaky turn to the unknown

Episode 10 of The Rolling Girls, titled “No No No,” is currently streaming on FUNimation and Hulu for paid subscribers. Free subscribers can watch the same episode six days from now on March 21st.

The beginning of this episode makes it apparent that Chiaya Misono is not human as she accidentally revealed her true form to the others, but they were barely away to notice. It seems that the arrival of the heart-shaped moonlight stones coincided with the crash landing of Chiaya and Haruka, her mother, who may also be an alien as well.

I laughed when Masami Utoku, Maccha Green, had a WTF look on her face.

I think she was going to pee her pants or something. I laughed when Kuniko Shigyou, Masami’s rival, tried to keep a straight face. It obviously shows that there is something unique about the moonlight stones besides granting the Best their superhuman powers.

Ai takes refuge with Momo and her mother, Haru, in her journey to become a drifter Best.

The pleasantries are short-lived when Momo and Haru are visited by the “tax collector.” Ai finds herself in Okayama, which is controlled by the Okayama Demons. It is apparent that the group is oppressing the people by forcing them to pay outrageous taxes.

The plot becomes intriguing as the moonlight stones serve as a fuel source.

I laughed when Maccha asked if Nozomi was going to be eaten by Chiaya. She reminds me of Celty from Durarara!! because the two of them are terrified of aliens.

It got funny when Ai and Chiaya were reunited again, but didn’t know it because the latter reverted back to her true form.

I laughed when Chiaya returned to her human form when Ai and Haru weren’t expecting it.

Momo finally faces Ura Kukino, the leader of the Okayama Demons, in an attempt to force her to lower the taxes on the people.

This was ultimately an interesting episode because Nozomi and the others are clueless about Chiaya’s true origins. It is apparent that Chiaya’s existence on this planet is directly connected to the moonlight stones.

Nozomi faces the reality that she hasn’t been able to do anything on her own steam, which proves Ai’s point that they need to obtain true power. The incident, where she interfered with Sakuya further proves that.

It is apparent that the hostile groups are expecting the moment of the “two moons” soon. I wonder how the Okayama Demons will fit into the scheme, too.
