The folks behind what could be one of the most anticipated movies in recent geek culture (and has nothing to do with Star Wars) dangled a tiny carrot in front of the noses of gamers and film-goers alike when the extremely short teaser trailer for Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainments’ upcoming Warcraft movie graced the Internet a few days ago. Set to release in June of 2016, the hype behind the film has had fans of the popular gaming franchise frothing at the mouth for even a glimpse at how their beloved online experience is going adapt to the big screen. The wait is over.
Friday night at BlizzCon, a convention dedicated to the many efforts of Blizzard Entertainment, the full official theatrical trailer was viewed by a crowd of anxious attendees. Starring Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper and Clancy Brown, the film looks to be one of the big money makers of next year’s summer blockbuster line-up. And for good reason. With 5.6 million subscribers playing globally in 2015, the earmarks for a hit are there. And having the innovative Duncan Jones directing doesn’t hurt its cause either.
The big action and pretty solid special effects should please gamers and newbs alike. There’s something for everyone in this trailer, especially for fans of the fantasy genre. And with World of Warcraft‘s rabid fan base it may be safe to say that after the film’s release this contender will stand toe to toe with the other big budget flicks of next summer.
So, without further fanfare, here is the official trailer for the Warcraft movie.
Release Date: June 10, 2016
