It was released on February 17, via their record label, The Valory Music Group, an imprint of the Big Machine Label Group.
Their album opens with the piercing “All Night Long” and lead singer Raul Malo knocks it out of the park. It is followed by the mid-tempo “Summertime (When I’m With You),” which features strong harmonies from the band. “Pardon Me” ought to be enjoyed for Malo’s rich vocals and distinct melody.
“What Am I Supposed To Do” is more mellow and “Stories We Could Tell” is upbeat and fun. “What You Do To Me” is fast-paced and a solid choice for a future radio single. “Let It Rain (On Me)” is a well-crafted, soothing ballad, while “The Only Question Is” has a retro bluesy vibe to it. “Out The Door” has soaring harmonies from The Mavericks.
“(Waiting For) The World To End” is a tune that their listeners can sing along to due to its catchy chorus. “Fascinate Me” is a gorgeous love ballad that displays Malo’s crystalline voice. It closes with the feel-good “Nitty Gritty.”
The Verdict
Overall, The Mavericks impress with Mono. It is filled with songs that their audience would want to get up and slow dance to. These songs will certainly translate well in their live show’s set-list. Their new CD garners 4 out of 5 stars.
