On Friday, March 13th, The Day Players Band performed at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island for a sold-out venue.

This marked their third time playing this venue, but the first time it was sold out.

At this show, The Day Players were comprised of Eric Martsolf, Brandon Barash, Carson Boatman, and Scott Reeves (filling in for Wally Kurth).

They were introduced as the “handsomest cover band out there.” Being a comedy club, they showcased their bubbly and funny personalities on stage.

They kicked off their set with Pharrell’s “Happy” and immediately broke into Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.”

“Give it up for Wally’s plastic surgeon,” they joked, as they introduced Scott Reeves, and they praised him for being on multiple soap operas (“The Young and The Restless,” “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives”).

“In all seriousness, Wally sends his love,” Martsolf said. “He is taking care of his family, and kudos to him for that! We are all fathers first. Let’s have a drink in honor of Wally. Cheers!”

Martsolf threw some Latin pop flavors in the mix with Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” where everyone was singing along with him.  Martsolf paraphrased the lyrics to “woke up in Levittown,” and rightfully so.

They took us back to the ‘80s with the Bon Jovi rock power ballad “Wanted Dead or Alive.” They subsequently picked up with “Stuck in the Middle with You.”

Carson Boatman treated the audience with his original single “Wild Thing,” which is uplifting, heartwarming, and refreshing. They tipped their hats to Neil Diamond with “Forever in Blue Jeans.”

Brandon Barash displayed his rap vocals with “Let’s Get It Started” by the Black Eyed Peas and the crowd got into it with him. It was followed by the disco-pop and soul anthem “Uptown Funk.” “Cheers Levittown,” the band said.

They serenaded the ladies with Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” and Barash honored his late father with Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life,” which was his dad’s favorite song.

Boatman sang another original song, this time in honor of his daughter Ava, appropriately titled “Ava’s Song,” which was melodically reminiscent of the vintage country classic “Help Me Make It Through the Night,” which was penned by Country Music Hall of Famer Kris Kristofferson. Boatman delivered on this poignant ballad.

During a soaring rendition of Bret Michaels and Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” everyone’s cell phones lit up as if they were lighters at a rock show.

They picked up the pace with “I’m a Believer” by The Monkees,” where everybody was clapping along wit them, and they included the Disney classic “Let It Go” in their set, which was sheer bliss.

“Thank you so much for coming to see you tonight. We love you so much. Thanks for tuning in for all of these decades,” the band members expressed.

They also praised Dicki as the “most talented man in the room.” They paid homage to Doug Gray and The Marshall Tucker Band with the southern rock standard “Can’t You See,” which was enthralling, and towards the end, Martsolf listed all of the women that his character, Brady Black, had relationships with in “Days of Our Lives.”

They closed on a fitting note with John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” where they left their New York fan-base wanting to hear more.

“Thank you so much, Levittown. We love you,” Martsolf said, effusively.

“Wild Thing” by Carson Boatman is available on Spotify and Apple Music.

The Verdict

Overall, The Day Players were able to put on a vivacious and memorable live acoustic show at Governor’s Comedy Club on Long Island.

Eric Martsolf, Carson Boatman, Scott Reeves, and Brandon Barash were able to shine as they showcased their distinct talent and musical abilities. The banter that the band members had with each other was absolutely hysterical.

It is highly recommended that one checks out The Day Players the next time they are in town… they will not be disappointed. Their concert garnered two giant thumbs up. Well done.
