“The Cases of Mystery Lane,” starring Aimee Garcia and Paul Campbell, is an intriguing new mystery film on Hallmark.

Mike Rohl directed the movie from a screenplay by Joel Dovev and Margaux Froley.

In this Hallmark mystery, Birdie Case (played by Aimee Garcia) is a bright, successful attorney. Her husband Alden (Paul Campbell) is smart and charming, but his inability to settle on a career is causing strain in their marriage.

When Alden goes behind his wife’s back to take classes, in hopes of becoming a private investigator, a homework assignment entangles him in a murder investigation.

Birdie just may hold the keys to solving the mystery, but Alden will have to come clean to find out. Only, Alden suspects that Birdie might be hiding secrets of her own.

This is a film that will keep the audience engaged thanks to its twists and turns. Garcia and Campbell have great chemistry together. Compliments to the screenwriters Joel Dovev and Margaux Froley for writing solid storylines (that are rich in character development) for the entire cast.

Aimee Garcia showcases her bubbly personality as Birdie, and it is unlike anything she has ever done before. Paul Campbell is suave as Alden. Matt Hamilton also delivers in the role of Officer Newton.

“The Cases of Mystery Lane” truly has the potential to become its own mystery series on Hallmark. It is worth more than just a passing glance. There is something in it for everyone, and it earns two thumbs up.
