Review: The Cadillac Three impressive at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater (Includes first-hand account)

They opened their set with “I’m Southern.” “It’s good to see you New York. You guys good tonight?” lead singer Jaren Johnston asked.

It was followed by the upbeat and rocking “Party Like You,” which was met with a raucous applause. “Thank you,” Johnston said. “We love it here in New York. Are you guys having a good time this evening?”

“Where are the rednecks at?” he asked, prior to breaking into the sassy “Drunk Like You.” Johnston shared that his band has a brand new record coming out on August 5, and he complimented country newcomer Kane Brown for opening for them, as well as Cole Swindell for being one of his best friends, and headliners Florida Georgia Line for being “brothers from different mothers.”

Johnston went on to introduce his group as The Cadillac Three and noted that they have been doing music for as long as Florida Georgia Line, but the latter duo “has done better than them.” “Thank you for coming out and supporting live music,” he added.

“White Lightning” showcased their wide range as a band since it is a bluesy ballad and towards the end, Johnston displayed his ability to growl, and subsequently incorporated the remainder of the tune as a crowd sing-along.

After a sip of Bud Light, they closed with their breakthrough hit “The South,” which was quite autobiographical for The Cadillac Three; moreover, their a cappella ending was sheer perfection. “God bless the south,” Johnston shouted.

The Verdict

Overall, The Cadillac Three was able to rock out Jones Beach. Jaren Johnston’s voice is an eighth world wonder in country music. They deserve to make it big in the music industry. The Cadillac Three are worth seeing live. Their set garnered an A rating.
