Review: The 90’s Band charms at Mulcahy’s on Long Island (Includes first-hand account)

They shared the stage with Wannabe and Larger Than Life.

“What’s going on Mulcahy’s?” Phil asked, prior to introducing his group as The 90’s Band.

Christina’s finest vocal performance was when she covered “Zombie” by The Cranberries. It was also exciting to hear Bobby cover Alien Ant Farm’s “Smooth Criminal,” especially since it brought this journalist back to his high school days.

Phil showed a great deal of positivity on Tubthumping’s “Chumbawamba,” as the crowd sang along. Christina paid homage to Republica with an upbeat and fun version of “Ready to Go.” Equally impressive were Christina’s tributes to Gwen Stefani and No Doubt with “Spiderwebs” and “Just a Girl,” where her vocals seemed identical to Stefani’s.

After Christina nailed Alanis Morissette’s “Head Over Feet,” Phil asked the crowd if anybody knew the following song, which was Green Day’s “Longview.”

Phil was able to please fans of the Goo Goo Dolls with his superb rendition of “Slide,” but his greatest song of the night was Oasis’ “Wonderwall,” featuring his velvet voice.

The Verdict

Overall, The 90’s Band always put on a fun and entertaining show at Mulcahy’s. They are such a versatile group that is able to tackle some of the biggest bands of the 90’s and do them justice. They garnered an A for a job well done.
