They covered music from 2000 until 2009. It was from the same group of musicians as The 90’s Band, with front-man Phil Smith and front-woman Bianca, with Dan DelVecchio on lead guitar, among other instrumentalists (Kris on drums and Pete on bass).
Phil kicked off their set with some Weezer with “Hash Pipe,” and it was followed by Bianca taking the stage with Katy Perry’s sassy hit “I Kissed a Girl,” where she looked and dressed like Perry herself. Phil picked up the pace with the upbeat and fun Good Charlotte tune “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” and Bianca returned for Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone.”
Phil greeted the Mulcahy’s audience, and expressed his appreciation to the fans for coming out tonight and seeing their new band, The 2000’s Band. Most impressive about their set is that the actual videos of each of these songs played on the video screens in the background, and Bianca underwent several wardrobe changes, transforming into Clarkson, Perry and Gaga, among others.
Bianca accompanied Phil on harmonies on The All-American Rejects’ “Move Along,” while Phil delivers one of his best vocals of the night with Fountains of Wayne’s infectious “Stacy’s Mom.” Bianca was able to spice up the set with a little Lady Gaga (“Poker Face”), where she dressed the part, and she covered Britney Spears’ “Oops!…I Did It Again.”
Phil also nailed The Killers with “Mr. Brightside” and the same was true for Fall Out Boy’s mega-hit “Sugar, We’re Goin Down.” The also gave Linkin Park a moving tribute by singing “In The End,” in their honor.
The Verdict
Overall, The 2000’s Band were able to bring the Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall back to a time-warp to the earlier part of the millennium. Their show was upbeat and a great deal of fun. Two thumbs up.
