“That Parenting Musical” is being performed Off-Broadway at Theatre Row in New York City.
The synopsis is: This new musical explores the joys, challenges, and absurdities of parenthood, and so much more.
It was written by real-life mom and dad team, Graham and Kristina Fuller, and directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman.
The cast features Natalie Bourgeois, McKenna OGrodnik, Max Crumm, Vidushi Goyal, McKenna OGrudnik, Brian Owen, and Dwayne Washington.
McKenna OGrodnik is hysterical in the role of Mom and she has good chemistry with Dwayne Washington as Dad, while Natalie Bourgeois is glorious as the Single Friend.
Max Crumm and Vidushi Goyal delight as Child 1 and Child 2 respectively. Everybody in the cast offers something unique and refreshing.
There is a rawness and authenticity to the script, music, and lyrics thanks to Graham and Kristina Fuller. Sometimes the audience will laugh so hard they might even be brought to tears.
Simply put, it is the Off-Broadway equivalent of “The Heart of Rock and Roll” but with a family and parenting theme to it.
“That Parenting Musical” is a giant ball of energy, and it is levity at its finest. It garners four out of five stars. Well done.
