Susan Lucci leads the new rotating cast of the play “My First Ex-Husband,” where she stars alongside Judy Gold, Cathy Moriarty, and Tonya Pinkins.
Tony nominee Randal Myler directed this Off-Broadway show from a script by actress, comedian and TV host Joy Behar (“The View”). “My First Ex-Husband” is being played at the MMAC Theater in New York City.
In lieu of Cathy Moriarty, Lana Young filled in at this matinee performance, and she was delightful.
In this show, playwright Joy Behar made her introductory remarks via a video message on the screen, and revealed that all of these stories were based on real-life especially from the women that she interviewed.
‘My First Ex-Husband’
Daytime queen Susan Lucci began the show by playing the character Jessica with “Walla Walla Bang Bang,” and it was followed by Lana Young portraying “The Widow” named June.

Tonya Pinkins was a force of nature as Laila in “Where Are You At?” where she didn’t accept any nonsense from her ex. Equally sublime was Judy Gold in “The Touch” as Monica.
Young was witty in “Clothes Make the Man?” as Serena, a woman whose man enjoys cross-dressing. Judy Gold was incandescent as a Jewish woman named Rebecca in “Wigged Out,” where she nailed some monologue-heavy scenes.
Pinkins returned to the stage as an equally charismatic and sassy Karen, who was “The Drummer’s Wife.”
Lucci subsequently closed the show as Gloria in “Get Off of Me,” where she plays a woman whose husband is obsessed with pleasuring her all the time (to the point where she is burnt out).
The Verdict
In summation, Susan Lucci, Judy Gold, Tonya Pinkins, and Lana Young were terrific in the Off-Broadway play “My First Ex-Husband.” Everybody brought something original and unique to the table, and they made it their own. It was a fierce and fun show all around, as well as feel-good escapism.
This rotating cast of “My First Ex-Husband” garnered two giant thumbs up. Bravo!
