The band is made up of front-woman Janet Soluri on lead vocals (as Stevie Nicks), Adam Ditre on acoustic and electric guitars, Adam Tese, who stole the show with his saxophone playing, Brian Connolly on keyboards, bassist Anthony Lombardo, Steve Stewart on drums and vocals, as well as backing singers Deanna Carroll and Terry Pavia.
Some of their highlight vocals of the night included the Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty duet “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” “Dreams,” “Rhiannon,” their namesake song “Gypsy” and the timeless “Stand Back.” Soluri was transformative as Nicks. She underwent a few outfit changes, and closed on a high note with the upbeat “Edge of Seventeen,” which featured a lengthy electric guitar solo, and killer saxophone from Tese.
This entire band really did Stevie Nicks and her timeless hits proud. Gypsy thanked their audience for coming out to see them perform at Mulcahy’s, and they told everybody to enjoy “90’s night.”
Following the well-received performance of Gypsy, professional bull rider Matt Triplett took over the Mulcahy’s stage to announce that he will be performing at Nassau Coliseum on September 23 and 24, as part of the “Professional Bull Riders: Built Ford Tough Series.”
The Verdict
Gypsy is worth seeing live whenever they come to town. They did not disappoint at Mulcahy’s, and they were consistently good throughout their set. Well done.
