Review: Steve Dorff officially inducted in Songwriters Hall of Fame in NY (Includes interview and first-hand account)

Throughout his illustrious career in the music business, Dorff has been awarded over 40 BMI awards, he has had over 20 Top 10 hits on pop and country radio, and 14 of his songs reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

Dorff’s songs have been recorded by such renowned artists as Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, George Strait, Kenny Rogers, and Anne Murray, among countless others.

On earning this recognition, Dorff said, “It is the greatest honor I could possibly ask for. It is voted by my peers and the people that I have worked with for over 25 years. It is just a tremendous honor.”

During the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony, his son, actor Stephen Dorff did the induction process. Fantasia performed her version of Anne Murray’s “I Just Fall in Love” in his honor, and following his poignant acceptance speech, Steve Dorff performed his own solo rendition of “Through The Years,” (which became a major hit for Kenny Rogers), as he accompanied himself on piano.

In the neat future, Dorff shared that he will write the music for the Murphy Brown revival, which will be out in the fall of 2018. “It is coming back to CBS in the fall. I haven’t really started yet because they haven’t shot the first episode. It is going to start in mid-July, but it is going to be a lot of fun,” he said.
