“Soul on Fire” is a new faith-based movie that pays tribute to John O’Leary’s childhood and inspirational life. It was released to theaters on October 10th.
It was directed by Sean McNamara (“Reagan”), and it is based on O’Leary’s true life story and his bestselling book “On Fire.”
The all-star cast features Joel Courtney, John Corbett, Stephanie Szostak, Masey McLain, and William H. Macy, among others.

The synopsis is: John O’Leary’s story begins with his miraculous recovery from a near death accident when he was nine years-old.
Given no chance of survival, John (played by Joel Courtney) endures an unbelievable road to recovery with the support of his family, faith, community and the kindness of his all-time idol, Baseball Hall of Fame Announcer Jack Buck (played by Oscar nominee William H. Macy).
Grateful for his miracle and shaped by life’s struggles, John’s mission to better the world inspires millions to do the extraordinary.
Joel Courtney commands each scene he is in as John O’Leary, and his acting runs the gamut; he layers his emotions well, and that will resonate well with audiences.
John Corbett is noteworthy as John’s father Denny O’Leary, while Stephanie Szostak is fabulous in a poignant performance as John’s mother Susan O’Leary.
Oscar nominee William H. Macy is transformative as Jack Buck in a controlled and subtle performance. DeVon Franklin is remarkable as Nurse Roy, while Masey McLain is lovely as John’s wife Beth O’Leary.

Each person in the cast is given their own distinct characterization (compliments to screenwriter Gregory Poirier), and all the actors bring something unique to the table, which helps elevate the story to a higher level.
The entire cast and crew should be commended for a job well done, especially for not being afraid to be raw and vulnerable in bringing John O’Leary’s unbelievable story to life.
