Cook’s set included “Heartbeat” and he took his fans on a trip down memory lane with the husky “Declaration,” and “I Did It For You.” He did justice on his solo version of James Bay’s sultry “Hold Back The River.”
Other noteworthy songs included “Life on the Moon,” “Alibi,” “Criminals,” as well as “Time Marches On,” “Kiss & Tell” and “Breathe Tonight.”
He even threw in a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” which ended in a neat jam. The highlight vocal of the evening was his moving rendition of “Come Back to Me,” a tune that has always been a fan-favorite.
It was followed by “Kiss On The Neck” and “Better Than Me.” Yet another compelling cover was his distinct rendition of Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender.”
While he did not perform the tear-jerking “Permanent,” Cook performed his new song “Gimme Heartbreak.” “Did you guys like that song?” he asked, and the answer was a resounding “yes.” Equally inspirational was his song “Light On.”
The Verdict
Overall, David Cook sang with heart and and soul for “Race for Hope,” and his powerhouse vocals resonated well with his fans. His ability to connect well with his audience is impeccable. Cook’s live show garnered two giant thumbs up.
