Review: Shotgun Wedding delivers at The Paramount, opens for Tanya Tucker (Includes first-hand account)

Shotgun Wedding began their show with a cover of Billy Joel’s “Travelin’ Prayer,” and they continued with such songs as the piano-driven “Just One Minute,” where Dennis DelGaudio and Catherine Porter sang lead vocals.

After “Hurtin’ Songs,” they performed “Tumbleweed Tuesday” with DelGaudio on lead and Catherine on harmonies. Following this song, they introduced their fellow band members such as Wade Preston on piano, as well as Andy Cichon on bass, and Chuck Burgi on drums, whom they dubbed as “the best drummer in the world,” and rightfully so.

They shared that they are a “city country band,” and they are leaving the real country songs to headliner Tanya Tucker. It was followed by “City Hall,” which is about a real shotgun wedding. “Has anybody ever had a shotgun wedding?” Porter asked, prior to revealing that she has had one, which may be a little “too much information.”

Shotgun Wedding thanked Tanya Tucker for allowing them to open for her, as well as The Paramount for having them again. They previously opened for LeAnn Rimes at the venue this past June. They closed their set with yet another city tune, “City Boy.”

All in all, Shotgun Wedding put on a solid opening set at The Paramount for Tanya Tucker. DelGaudio and Porter were pleasant on vocals, while Wade Preston played the piano. Andy Cichon was fabulous on bass, and Chuck Burgi rocked the drums.
