Actors Shawn Ashmore, Elizabeth Mitchell and Garret Dillahunt star in the new mystery thriller “The Huntsman,” which was written and directed by Kyle Kauwika Harris.
It is based on the award-winning novel by Judith Sanders.
The synopsis is: When an ICU nurse volunteers to help a coma patient accused of murdering six women, he is drawn into a chilling web of lies, obsession, and deadly secrets as a detective races to stop the killer.

Shawn Ashmore commands each scene he is in as the intense nurse Max Mason, while Elizabeth Mitchell is fierce (and a revelation) as Jolene, the suspect’s wife. Jessy Schram is appealing as Max’s sister Detective Darby Albright.
Garret Dillahunt pulls off a controlled and mysterious performance as Lincoln Raider, while Brent Bailey is noteworthy as Reynolds.
Everybody in this cast is gifted, and offers something unique to the table to push the envelope and tell this gripping story.
The twists and turns, and the surprise ending will keep the audience engaged. There are a lot of hints, clues, and red herrings along the way; moreover, it has a haunting musical score, which captures its eerie mood.
The Verdict
Overall, “The Huntsman” is a riveting mystery thriller that will keep the audiences at the edge of their seats guessing who did it. As a film, it has a retro late ’90s and ’00s vibe to it, which is quite nostalgic.
Kyle Kauwika Harris should be commended for writing such a rich and resonant script that wrestles morality, seeking truth, and justice, and for his solid direction in bringing this piece to life, which encompasses elements of horror, drama, mystery, action and suspense.
This movie is worth more than just a passing glance, and it garners four out of five stars. Well done.
