Review: Seth Ennis amazing on ‘Woke Up in Nashville’ breakthrough single (Includes first-hand account)

The piano-driven tune is a track on his Mabelle EP, which was released on March 3 via Arista Nashville. Ennis co-penned the single with fellow songwriters David Hodges and Blair Daly, and it was subsequently produced by Corey Crowder.

Most impressive about this single is that Ennis plays all of the instruments and sings all of vocals on the track, showcasing his wide range as a country recording artist. “Woke Up in Nashville” is lyrically and melodically beautiful.

This single was a major hit when Ennis sang it live at The Paramount in Huntington, where he opened for country star Billy Currington.

The Verdict

Overall, Seth Ennis captivates on his new single “Woke Up in Nashville.” His rich vocals are refreshing, and reminiscent of Gary LeVox from Rascal Flatts meets Charlie Worsham, and that ought to be taken as a major compliment. “Woke Up in Nashville” is one of the best new singles by a male country artist in 2017. “Woke Up in Nashville” earns 5 out of 5 stars.
