Review: Scotty James shines on breakthrough country album ‘Streets’ (Includes first-hand account)

It opens with his latest radio single, “My Car,” and it is followed by the nonchalant and mellow love tune “Toes,” as well as the catchy “Sugar Don’t.”

“Back to Those Streets” is a nostalgic ballad, with conversational lyrics, while he picks up the pace with the mid-tempo “Nobody” and “That Girl is A Mustang” has a traditional country vibe to it due to its fiddle instrumentation. The youthful “Cancun” has a feel-good vibe to it, where he sings about his spring break in Cancun.

It immediately breaks into his single “Still,” and his debut album closes with the ballad “Cuckoo” and “Hard Goodbye,” which features neat fiddle instrumentation.

The Verdict

Overall, Scotty James delivers on his brand new album Streets. There is a lot of musical variety on this studio effort, and he displays a great deal of potential. The only downside is that it only has 10 tracks, but they are high-quality ones. Well done Scotty. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Streets by Scotty James is available on iTunes.
