Sarah Snook, Jake Lacy, and Dakota Fanning star in the new suburban thriller series “All Her Fault,” which premiered on November 6th on Peacock. It is based on the book of the same name by Andrea Mara.
The synopsis is: Marissa Irvine arrives to collect her young son Milo (Duke McCloud) from his first playdate, but the woman who answers the door isn’t a mother she recognizes. She doesn’t have Milo, and has never heard of him.
As every parent’s worst nightmare begins to unfold, new questions lead to deep secrets, revealing cracks in the Irvine’s seemingly perfect world until everything is left shattered.
Sarah Snook gives a powerful performance as Marissa (the mother who is distraught over her son going missing) and she commands every scene she is in.
Snook’s acting rums the gamut in this series, and she works well opposite her on-screen husband, the complex Peter (played by Jake Lacy).
Dakota Fanning is superb as Jenny in a performance that is emotional and cerebral.
Michael Peña is a revelation as Detective Alcaras, the police officer who is investigating the sudden disappearance of Milo.
Sophia Lillis is appealing as Carrie, and Abby Elliott is equally noteworthy as Lia. In his own right, young actor Duke McCloud pulls off a breakout performance as Milo.
Despite some loopholes in the plot, the actors do a tremendous job given the material that they have. In fact, every single person in this gifted cast brings something distinct and refreshing to this unflinching story.
The Verdict
Overall, “All Her Fault” is a riveting new mystery series that will keep the audience at the edge of their seats. The multiple twists and turns will certainly keep the fans engaged. Minkie Spiro and Kate Dennis soared with directing this series.
Most importantly, it will spark conversations among viewers especially on the topic of what happens when a child goes missing.
