The group celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the release of their …And The Battle Begun album.
RX Bandits opened their set with the ambient “Untitled,” as blue lights dimmed from the stage, which showcased their versatile style of music. It was followed by the title track “…And the Battle Begun,” which was more upbeat and progressive. Equally spitfire was “In Her Drawer,” while “Only for the Night” was infectious, featuring sharp vocals from front-man Matthew Embree, coupled by red and blue lights.
They brought the tempo down a bit on “On a Lonely Screen” and they made it feel as if it were “1980” with their horn solo. They picked up the pace with “One Million Miles an Hour, Fast Asleep” and “Apparition” was smooth and bluesy.
Other songs included “A Mouth Full of Hollow Threats?” and the up-tempo “Epoxi-lips” and “Tainted Wheat.” They closed with “To Our Unborn Daughters” and “Crushing Destroyer,” both of which were the tracks that rounded out that album.
The Verdict
With RX Bandits, one thing is for sure. Their fans are extremely loyal and dedicated. They were with them every step of the way either clapping along or headbanging, and even crowd-surfing. Ricky Cappiello did a superb job running the lights. RX Bandits had a great deal of energy throughout their 90-minute set.
