Review: Russell Dickerson soars on new ‘Yours’ country EP (Includes first-hand account)

The EP opens on an upbeat note with the mid-tempo “Every Little Thing,” which is extremely radio-friendly (not to be confused with Carly Pearce’s radio single of the same name). It is followed by his breakthrough single “Yours,” which is perhaps the highlight song on the extended play. “Yours” is easily one of the best country wedding songs of the year, due to its intensity and heart-warming lyrics. It resonated with his fans and listeners in New York when he performed it live at NASH FM 94.7’s Stage 17.

He picks up the pace with the fun and sassy “MGNO,” and the fourth track “Blue Tacoma” is another keeper. It closes with a crystalline wedding version of “Yours,” which is sheer perfection.

The Verdict

Overall, Russell Dickerson delights on his latest EP, Yours. He is certainly one of the best new male country artists in the contemporary music scene. This EP garners two thumbs up. Well done.
