On Sunday, February 22nd, “General Hospital” actors Rory Gibson and Eden McCoy brought their “Sibling Small Talk” to Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island.

Gibson plays the role of Michael Corinthos and McCoy plays Josslyn Jacks on the daytime drama “General Hospital.”

For her portrayal of Josslyn, McCoy took home the Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series” in 2023.

In this intimate fan event, produced by Coastal Entertainment, the actors shared behind-the-scenes stories from their time on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital,” which has been on the air for over 62 years.

“How are we doing?” McCoy inquired. “We keep bringing snow with us… So sorry!”

“Thank you so much for coming out and spending your time with us,” Gibson said.

Gibson and McCoy on their first days on the show

They recalled their first day on the show, where Gibson had only one line, but the whole cast was there, so it was quite intimidating, while McCoy’s first day was Carly and Sonny Corinthos’ 17th wedding anniversary, which was memorable for that reason.

Similarities and differences between their characters and themselves

Both actors described how they are similar and different than their characters on their show. “I love Josslyn’s passion and her protectiveness. Those are qualities that I carry closest to my heart,” she said.

“Michael seems like a very enigmatic character, but he can also turn into a ruthless character so it has been fun playing both ends of that spectrum,” Gibson said.

“Being on set is such an infectious feeling… it has such an energy to it,” he added.

Dream acting partners

McCoy listed Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as her dream acting partner, while Gibson selected Tom Hardy, Mads Mikkelsen, and Viggo Mordensen as his dream scene partners.

In the show, McCoy shared that she loves doing scenes with her on-screen mother Laura Wright, who plays Carly Corinthos, and Gibson enjoys working with Josh Swickard, who he proclaims “the sweetest guy in the world,” and

Gibson on working with Erika Slezak

On working with daytime veteran Erika Slezak, Gibson remarked, “Erika was super nice, and as cool as you would think she would be! She elevated everyone around her.”

Eden McCoy on William Lipton

McCoy noted that she still keeps in touch with her former “General Hospital’ co-star William Lipton, who is now touring the United States with The Runarounds. “Will is still one of my best friends, we keep in touch, and I am so happy for his success,” she said.

Outside of acting, McCoy would love to do set design and props. “That would be a fun job,” she admitted, prior to noting that she is also writing her own material.

Eden McCoy on Scarlett Spears

McCoy was thrilled for Scarlett Spears, who plays Donna Corinthos on “General Hospital” for getting a role on “Wicked: For Good.” “Scarlett is now a huge superstar,” she said.

“I am obsessed with ‘Wicked’ to begin with, so once I saw her in ‘Wicked: For Good,’ I freaked out. I am so happy for her… and now, she will be in ‘Toy Story 5’,” McCoy added.

Remembering Johnny Wactor and Brad Everett Young

Both actors shared kind words about the losses of actor Johnny Wactor and photographer Brad Everett Young.

Gibson stated, “I never got the pleasure of meeting Johnny, but I’ve heard the most incredible things about him… Johnny was such a kind, gentle, extremely caring, and genuine person.”

“Brad’s death was terribly unexpected and so sad,” Gibson said. “I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him, but we got pretty close, which is a testament to who he was as a person.”

“Brad was so kind and so talented. He has such a knack for making people feel at ease when he was around them. Brad was a really special person and he is dearly missed,” Gibson added.

“They were both so extremely passionate with what they did! I think that is how everyone remembers them,” McCoy said.

McCoy continued, “When you were in their presence, they were so consistently kind and present with you and great listeners. What comes to mind first is how much they both loved what they did with their life and how they spent their time.”

“They attracted such a a wonderful community because of that. They were so authentically themselves and they impacted everyone in such a wonderful way. It’s awful what happened to them,” McCoy elaborated.

“They are both dearly missed and spoken about often. We keep them alive through that… their energy is still around, and energy cannot be created or destroyed, so they are still around,” McCoy added.

Favorite parts of Europe

Their favorite parts when they visited Europe were Positano, Italy (Gibson) and Spain (McCoy).

Gibson and McCoy on their fans

“Thank you, guys, so much for coming out today,” McCoy said. “Stay safe in this weather.”

“It is all thanks to the fans who make the show and the experience so special,” Gibson said, effusively.
