Review: Rodney Carrington performs stand-up comedy show at The Paramount (Includes first-hand account)

His “Shout” video played on the giant televised screens, prior to his on-screen message displaying, “Huntington, are you ready for the truth?”

As he took the stage, he was introduced as “the next president of the United States,” and he shared that he was born in Longview, Texas, and that he has been performing for 27 years, and that he has never played at this venue before.

He is used to land being many acres in Texas, while on Long Island, it seems like one giant apartment complex. Carrington opened up about his divorce, which is relatively fresh, 3.5 years ago. He had been married for 18 years, and disclosed his recent weight gain. He has yet to meet anybody in “really good” shape to be with.

Carrington made a recent stop to Foxwoods Resort Casino, which was a fun experience, especially since he met a Christian lady at a bar who criticized him about his dirty jokes, and noted that he will regret them by the time he someday meets his Maker. This came as a shock to Carrington, who had joked that he thought was going “straight to hell.”

He continued with several dirty jokes pertaining to private parts, and revealed that he has Mexicans working on his house, and that they have dogs that they can’t take care of. He went on to ask “How many people are happily married?” and there were several responses in the crowd, all of which sounded “tired” to Carrington. “You sound tired,” he said. “You’re going it right,” he added, especially since they have given up on all hopes and dreams, and that there is nothing out there worth chasing. The only people that are left are the ones that are “old and crazy.”

Carrington experienced seeing childbirth three times in-person, which he described as something that looks “effortless.” When he was married, he could not watch pornography since he was aware of the fact that his spouse could not compete. He noted that women bleed 84 days a year, and he is instantly able to tell which female audience members are bleeding. “I’m not going to embarrass you,” he said, referring to the ladies.

The Verdict

Overall, Rodney Carrington’s show at The Paramount was entertaining. The jokes may have been a bit dirty, but he was able to give his Long Island audience a decent laugh. He garnered a B rating.
