“Rodeo and Juliet” is a compelling new episode in the new Hallmark western series “Ride.” It will officially premiere on Sunday, April 2.

Paolo Barzman directed from a screenplay by Rebecca Boss and Chris Masi.

In this new episode, Cash’s (Beau Mirchoff) ride at Boulder Rocky Mountain Rodeo puts the McMurrays back in business. Tuff (Jake Foy) and Valeria are forced to work on their friendship as they work to save the ranch.

Beau Mirchoff commands every scene he is in, while Tiera Skovbye and Nancy Travis are just as noteworthy as Missy and Isabel respectively. In Episode 2, Jake Foy is a revelation as Tuff.

Judging from the first two episodes, this series gets more insightful and engaging as it progresses. The characters all have good chemistry, and that allows for more resonance.

The cinematography continues to be impressive, and the same holds true about the twists and turns in the plot.

Without giving too much away, Episode 2 has a cliffhanger ending that viewers will not want to miss. It will resonate with fans of Hallmark, as well as those that enjoy such series as “Yellowstone” and “1883.”
