Review: Robby Johnson charms on new ‘Shady’ lyric video (Includes first-hand account)

The single was co-penned by such country artists and songwriters as Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally and Luke Laird. His lyric video was produced by Waterproof Pictures and directed by Eric Hurley. It is expected to be on his breakthrough studio album, Don’t Look Back, which was produced by James Stroud, who has worked with such artists as Chris Young and Tim McGraw.

His lyrics are fun and refreshing, instantly luring the listener into a laid-back summer mood. “In the sunshine being shady, Big umbrella with my baby, Kiss me two times drive me crazy, In the sunshine being shady,” Johnson sings, coupled with his neat “oh, oh, come on” hooks.

The Verdict

Overall, Robby Johnson delivers on his lyric video for “Shady.” His baritone vocals are rich and mellow. “Shady” is a great deal of summer fun. The song garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
