Review: Ricky Martin amazes at New York’s Gramercy Theatre (Includes first-hand account)

This concert was in support of his latest studio album, A Quien Quiera Escuchar, which was released on his record label, Sony Music Latin.

Ricky Martin began his set with the smooth and upbeat “Adios,” his lead single from his latest tenth studio album that he co-wrote. It was met with a roaring applause from his dedicated fans.

Martin revealed that his favorite song on the new album is “Isla Bella,” especially since it represents a lot to him and it deals with people leaving their country to live a better life. One could really hear his heart on his heart-warming ballad, and Martin nailed it. “Isla Bella” has such a beautiful melody to it, stunning acoustic guitars, and captivating lyrics.

“I want to pump it up a little. I want the energy now. I want everybody dancing. It has changed the vibe for a second,” the Latin heartthrob said. His chart-topping single “Livin’ La Vida Loca” was a great deal of fun, and a crowd-favorite.

Equally remarkable was “The Cup of Life,” where he interacted well with the fans and incorporated it as a sing-along; moreover, he had the crowd waving their hands up in the air.

The Verdict

Overall, Ricky Martin proved to be an amazing performer at New York’s Gramercy Theater. The way he sang and moved, one could never tell that he is 43 years old. His vocals were expressive and emotional. He was able to deliver both in English and Spanish, with equal ease. For over an hour, he commanded the Gramercy Theater stage like no other. His live show garnered an A rating.
