Review: Rascal Flatts charm on new ‘I Like The Sound of That’ single (Includes first-hand account)

“I Like The Sound of That” was co-penned by such songwriters as Jesse Frasure, Shay Mooney and this year’s Grammy “Best New Artist” winner Meghan Trainor. Their song’s music video was directed by Kenny Jackson and John Stephens. It was released on Big Machine Records, and the band produced the song themselves. It is in the Top 15 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, sitting at No. 13.

Their song is refreshing and catchy with warm lyrics, thus making it the ideal upbeat love song. “I just wanna hear that ringtone, I like it turned up when you’re blowing up my phone, wanna here you say come on over, cause when you tell me to come on over, I like the sound of that,” they sing, in its chorus.

The Verdict

Overall, Rascal Flatts‘ “I Like The Sound of That” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. Gary LeVox’s voice is as powerful as ever, while Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney charm on harmonies. It is one of those songs that one just wants to blast in their car every time it is being played on the radio.
