It is the lead single from her upcoming studio album, which will be released this fall on her record label, Columbia Records. She co-wrote “Broken Glass” with and Nate Cyphert. The song was co-produced by Stargate and Jarrad Rogers, and recorded at Village Studios in Los Angeles, California.
Her visually striking music video for “Broken Glass” was directed by Allie Avital, and it was filmed in Chinatown in Los Angeles. It features female bikes from around the world, as well as two German world champions. This is a song that really tugs at the heartstrings.
Similar to her previous singles, “Broken Glass” has an inspirational and encouraging message to it. The songstress acknowledges that even during the most difficult times, there is light. It is Platten’s “rallying cry of release” as well as an ode to optimism, joy, excitement and healing. “Broken Glass” is an anthem that celebrates women: their unity, strength and resilience. Platten noted that when women come together, they are truly unstoppable.
On August 21, Platten will be performing “Broken Glass” on ABC’s Good Morning America, for its national television debut, which is one that should not be missed.
The Verdict
Overall, Rachel Platten’s “Broken Glass” is definitely a keeper. Fans and music listeners that enjoyed “Fight Song” and “Better Place” with certainly love this refreshing new radio single. “Broken Glass” garners five out of five stars.
