It opens with the bluesy “Magnetic” and it immediately breaks into the breathy, acoustic ballad “Part of My Plan,” which displays his rumbling voice, and he picks up the pace with the up-tempo “My Name.”
“I Dare You” is more sultry and jazzy, while “Sand Castles” is crisp and haunting. “Don’t Tell Me” is nonchalant and sassy, while “Miles” is extremely-friendly. “Dance With Me” is a gorgeous love ballad on the album, which many fans and listeners will want as their wedding song.
After the upbeat “Her Mystery,” Phillips’ album closes with the harking ballad “What Will Become of Us,” as well as the powerhouse tune “Into The Wild,” which is one of the highlight tracks on the CD.
The Verdict
Overall, Phillip Phillips has released a highly eclectic studio album, Collateral. Each song on here has its own identity, and Phillips does them justice. One can hear his heart on this album. Collateral earns an A rating.
