The band is comprised of Matt Thomas on lead vocals and guitar, as well as Josh McSwain on guitar and backing vocals, Barry Knox on bass and background vocals and Scott Thomas on drums. Matt and Scott are brothers, while Barry is their cousin and Josh is their childhood best friend.
Parmalee opened their set with “I’ll Bring the Music” and they broke into their Top 10 smash hit “Already Callin’ You Mine,” and “My Montgomery.”
After “Back in the Day,” it was great to hear new music form the band, which included “Lonely Girl,” as well as their forthcoming single “Roots,” which is destined to become a chart-topping country single in their near future.
Equally fun was their radio single “Close Your Eyes,” and it was followed by the upbeat “Day Drinkin’,” prior to debuting another new tune, the infectious and flirtatious “Damn I Just Want to Kiss You.”
Parmalee took their fans on a trip down memory lane to their first hit single “Musta Had a Good Time” and they closed their memorable set with “Dance” and their chart-topping single and autobiographical ballad, “Carolina,” which has been certified platinum. Lead singer Matt Thomas’ vocals were reminiscent of rocker Chris Daughtry.
The Verdict
Overall, Parmalee was able to delight at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh on Long Island. Their show was high-energy and they were able to work the crowd. Their concert garnered an A rating.
