“Paradise Highway” is a riveting new film on human trafficking that was written and directed by Anna Gutto.

As of Friday, July 29, it is available on Digital, On Demand, and in select theaters via Lionsgate.

The all-star cast of actors includes Academy Award winners Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman, as well as actors Cameron Monaghan, Frank Grillo, Hala Finley, Veronica Ferres, and Christiane Seidel.

Binoche and Freeman lead this thriller set in the trucking industry and its seamy underbelly of human trafficking.

When her brother Dennis’s (Frank Grillo) life is threatened, Sally (Juliette Binoche), a truck driver, reluctantly agrees to smuggle illicit cargo: a girl named Leila (Hala Finley).

As Sally and Leila begin a danger-fraught journey across state lines, a dogged FBI operative Gerick (Morgan Freeman) sets out on their trail, determined to do whatever it takes to terminate a human-trafficking operation — and bring Sally and Leila to safety.

The Verdict

Overall, “Paradise Highway” is a compelling new thriller by Anna Gutto, who proves that she is a rising star in the filmmaking industry. The movie is daring, unflinching, and sophisticated. Juliette Binoche is transformative as Sally, in a role unlike anything has anyone ever seen her before.

Morgan Freeman delivers a controlled and commanding performance as Gerick and he works well opposite Cameron Monaghan’s portrayal of Special Agent Finley Sterling, while Frank Grillo is vivacious and badass as Dennis. The performances by the entire cast are extraordinary and memorable.

The audience ought to buckle up because it’s a high-adrenaline ride. “Paradise Highway” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
