They shared the stage with British songstress Natasha Bedingfield. O.A.R. kicked off their set with the up-tempo “City on Down,” and it was followed by the soothing ballad “Delicate Few,” and “Dareh Meyod.”
The highlight song of their set was their live rendition of their signature song, the infectious “Shattered (Turn the Car Around),” where everybody in the crowd was reciting the lyrics verbatim. Marc Roberge’s voice was in top-notch form, and the entire band rocked as a whole.
After “Love and Memories” and “Heaven,” equally remarkable was their empowering performance of “Peace,” where they were joined by a young choir on stage.
They closed with “That Was a Crazy Game of Poker,” and for their encore, Marc Roberge delivered a distinct version of the Billy Joel classic, “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” which resonated well with the Jones Beach audience.
The Verdict
Overall, O.A.R. was able to delight on Train’s “Play That Song” tour stop at the Jones Beach Theater on Long Island. All three musical acts (Natasha Bedingfield, O.A.R. and Train) were gifted and talented in their own right. O.A.R.’s set garnered two thumbs up.
