Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys released his new surprise solo song “Hey Kid.”

This is a personal and pensive tune, where Carter finds himself speaking to his younger self, where he is offering positive wisdom, reassurance, and a reminder to keep on trucking.

The song’s lyrics are warm, resonant, conversational, and contrived. It ought to be enjoyed for its beauty, meaningfulness, and simplicity.

In many ways, “Hey Kid” is the male compliment to country star Martina McBride’s “Girls Like Me” song, and that ought to be taken as a major compliment.

‘Who I Am’ solo tour

Carter embarked on his first solo tour in seven years, the international “Who I Am” tour, which kicked off in the U.S. in October of 2023.

Due to popular demand, the “Who I Am” tour continued through 2024, with performances spanning across Europe, North America, and South America, and it has been extended through 2025, reaching territories across Asia and even the Middle East.

At each show over the past year, Carter had a new artist open for him that was a winner of his #WhoIAmNewArtist contest.

The Verdict

Overall, “Hey Kid” by Nick Carter is one of those songs that will instantly put a smile on the faces of listeners and fans due to its heartwarming nature. This tune is for anyone who feels lost or needs a confidence boost.

Nick Carter is not afraid to be raw and vulnerable once again, so kudos to that. “Hey Kid” garners an A rating. Well done.
