Review: Nick Carter delights on catchy new ’19 in 99′ single and video (Includes first-hand account)

“19 in 99” was co-penned by Carter, as well as songwriters Bryan Shackle, Dan Muckala and Thomas Kipp Williams.

The music video for “19 in 99” is witty and a great deal of fun. Carter shows his rebellious side (when his family doubts him for being fun) as he parties in his house, eats different cereals, listens to Tupac, wears a swim bodysuit and a blonde wig, throws toilet paper rolls on palm trees, as well as plays video games and dances on his roof. It features a cameo from Backstreet Boy band member A.J. McLean as the pizza delivery guy, which is quite ironic, since at one point, Carter is reenacting his “I Want It That Way” video, while dressed in white.

The upbeat song fared well when he performed it live at the Playstation Theater in New York on March 12.

The Verdict

Overall, Nick Carter delivers on his “19 in 99” single and music video. It has a liberating vibe and a retro feel to it. “19 in 99” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
