Review: Myles Kennedy incredible on new music video ‘Year of the Tiger’ (Includes first-hand account)

Kennedy truly takes his fans and listeners on a musical journey on this moving tune. The song itself is eclectic, containing elements of folk, Americana, roots, country, rock, and soul.

The music video was brilliantly directed by Dan Sturgess, and it follows a pensive Kennedy as he travels through the memory of the loss of his father in 1974, which ironically enough, fell on the “year of the tiger.”

“In the year of the tiger, I won’t weep and moan, got no time for cooling heels I’ve got to roam,” Kennedy sings, in the opening verse.

His dynamic vocal range is evident when he belt out the lyrics, “When we fear we can’t go on at all.”

The song “Year of the Tiger” is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, the new Myles Kennedy song “Year of the Tiger” and its music video are both remarkable. The tune is autobiographical, honest, authentic and compelling. If the rest of his new solo album if anything like this opening track, then his fans and listeners are in for a real treat. “Year of the Tiger” garners an A+ rating.
