“Mojave Diamonds,” starring William McNamara Weston Cage, is a riveting new film by writer and director Asif Akbar. It was just released on Amazon Prime Video on May 30 via Lionsgate.
The synopsis is: A former MMA fighter and his brothers must rescue their kidnapped family from a dangerous crime syndicate after $50M of illegal diamonds gets stolen.
Aside from William McNamara and Weston Cage, this intense thriller stars UFC superstars Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Chael Sonnen, and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, as well as Kelly Lynn Reiter, Chris Maher, Jonathan Camp, Alex Rose Wiesel, and Anthony Tesoro, among others.
Cerrone plays Roy, a fighter who runs afoul of the Vegas mob and must run a $50 million shipment of diamonds to Mexico. He brings his G.l. brother Danny (Chris Maher), but the shipment is stolen by a rival gang, and brother Joe’s family is abducted as punishment.
Now, the three siblings must join forces to penetrate the mob compound and rescue their loved ones, no matter how many lives it costs.
William McNamar is commanding and sustains every scene he is in as Jason David, and he works well opposite Chis Maher. Weston Cage delivers a gripping performance as the nefarious Paulie, which involved him to do method acting for the part. Everybody in the diverse cast offers something unique to the table.
The Verdict
Overall, “Mojave Diamonds” is a high-adrenaline and edgy feature film. The performances by the cast all around are electrifying. The intensity is palpable throughout. It is worth more than just a passing glance, and highly recommended for fans and viewers of the action movie genre.
Congrats to writer and director Asif Akbar for bringing these flawed characters to life (and the rich character development he provided in his script).
Fans that enjoyed Jonathan Salemi’s “The Last Deal” (starring Anthony Molinari) will certainly find “Mojave Diamonds” to be quite thrilling.
