On March 1, Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino was at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on Long Island for a special event.
Sorvino participated in a screening of “Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion,” which celebrated the 25th anniversary of its release. Sorvino played the leading role of Romy opposite Lisa Kudrow, who played Michele.
David Mirkin directed it from a screenplay by Robin Schiff.
“Watching Mira in ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion’ brought back such nostalgia,” Jillian Onorato, fan and attendee, remarked. “This movie made me laugh, it made me cry, and it took me back to a much simpler time. It definitely helped that Sorvino was so funny in it too.”
Sorvino won the Oscar for “Best Supporting Actress” for “Mighty Aphrodite” back in 1996.
Following the screening, Sorvino participated in a conversation with radio personality Rob Rush (94.3 The Shark”) about her career in entertainment, and it also included a Question and Answer (Q & A) session with the fans, where the audience wrote down their questions and some were picked and Rush read them aloud (and gave credit to the person asking them and the town that they were from).
Her brother, actor Michael Sorvino was also in attendance.
In the next few weeks, Sorvino will be a part of 90s Con at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on March 15,16 and 17, 2024.
The Verdict
Overall, it was a sentimental evening with Mira Sorvino at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. There was certainly a feeling of nostalgia in the Long Island venue.
