Review: Mike Posner triumphs on new single ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza’ (Includes first-hand account)

It is a track on his upcoming studio album, At Night, Alone, which will be out on May 6, via Island Records. His vocals on the song are crystalline and crisp.

Posner is the sole writer of this song, which he penned initially on acoustic guitar, and it was subsequently co-produced by Posner, Martin Terefe and Norwegian duo SeeB. “I took a pill in Ibiza, to show Avicii I was cool, and when I finally got sober, felt 10 years older,” Posner sings. “I’m living out in LA, I drive a sports car just to prove, I’m a real big baller ’cause I made a million dollars, and I spend it on girls and shoes.”

“I Took a Pill in Ibiza” sits in the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, with the potential to become a chart-topping single. It has already been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
