DelGuidice began the evening by performing the national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner,” which was well-received by the spectators. He returned for the halftime show, where he was joined with his talented band members Tommy Byrnes (on lead guitar and backing vocals), Carmine Giglio and Nick Dimichino.
He went on to sing such classic hits as Journey’s inspirational “Don’t Stop Believing,” Led Zeppelin’s rocking “Whole Lotta Love” and The Beatles‘ “Hey Jude,” all of which were as good as the original, featuring DelGuidice’s rich, husky voice.
The Verdict
Overall, Mike DelGuidice’s performance at Madison Square Garden’s halftime show and the national anthem were both terrific. He proved that he is able to excel equally when he covers songs by other iconic artists, and that he is not only limited to singing Billy Joel. His band rocked as well, and their halftime performance garnered an A rating.
