Singer-songwriter Michael Thomas White released his new single and music video for “Red Light” on September 29.
The song “Red Light” is simply about a girl that got away. It was inspired by 2000’s pop and the sound of early Taylor Swift. In particular, this tune takes place in San Francisco, and its lyrics are pensive and relatable, especially for anybody that has ever been in a romance.
It has a retro ’90s and ’00s vibe to it, where the listener can recall Dave Matthews meets Liam Gallagher (Oasis fame) with the atmospherics of the country band LANCO (“Greatest Love Story”).
White’s rich and resonant vocals are smooth as silk on this midtempo and upbeat tune. The music video will transport listeners back to the VH1 and MTV days (back when they used to play music videos on there). It encompasses elements of alternative, indie, pop-rock, country, and adult contemporary music.
His goal is for this tune to give listeners a feeling of nostalgia for a moment, and it is safe to say that he accomplished this objective. It also gives people hope that new love is in the air.
“Red Light” is available on Apple Music. It is worth checking out.
